Right to commit suicide

The Indian Constitution guarantees basic rights to its citizens, but does not allow one to take his own life. Not only is the right is the right given, but also attempting suicide is considered as a punishable offence. Now, is this right or wrong?

Don’t the people have right on their own lives? Haven’t they got the ownership of their own life? What are they supposed to do when they are out of options? People commit suicide not because they do not want to live, its because of intense pressure and tension. Then how can the constitution be cruel to them?

These are arguments which rise against the motion. But let me tell you, these questions are merely imbecile motions. The skullduggery behind the advent of such questions is lack of understanding the meaning of life. Here is the reply to the first two questions:
Yes, people do have right and ownership of their own lives, but the right is just to safeguard it, not decimate it. Taking a life intentionally is a crime, whether it be of others or our own. Our life, our family and our friends are the most invaluable treasures in our possession. The purpose of our life is to make all of them happy. By committing suicide, you are doing just the opposite.

Reply to last two questions:
People are never out of options. The number of options in front of us depends on our attitude and how we see things. For example, when you feel intense pressure, just look around and see the vast spaces. The same is with our lives. At times, all gates around us close down. Never consider it as a set back. Observe and find the niche which can take you out of all the troubles. Believe me, there is always a niche. All you need to do is trust yourself. Make your mind believe that there is no problem you can’t solve and all will be well.

All praises to Indian Constitution.

REALITY OR DRAMA

The panoramic field of entertainment is clutched with latest trend, The Reality Shows. Reality Shows based on different themes like singing, dance, comedy, adventure etc. are being telecast 24*7 in one channel or the other. Thousands of contestants from all over the sub continent compete in it for both fame and money. The programmes showcase the talents of different people in different fields and are hence a boon for the budding youngsters.

But in the recent past, I’ve often wondered how much reality is being shown in the reality shows. In order to make the dish more delicious, I’ve often felt the presence of additional chemicals and preservatives in it. The different channels which are in a race for maximum number of viewers finds adulteration the best way to implement this. They bedeck the shows with plentiful DRAMA to make it more entertaining and in the same time weakening the spirit of competition.

This should not be done. The channels should take the shows in the right spirit rather than JUST BUSINESS. The survival of a channel through adulteration is not perennial. The day audience start recognizing this market trick, they may even decide to go back to radio as a whole.

The channels must understand media is not just about ENTERTAINMENT. It is also for ENLIGHTENMENT.

Children - Mark Making Machines???

The genesis of education system is undoubtedly the gurukulas where students stayed with their teachers, helping them in their household works, and in the same time practicing their vidyas. The gurukulas portrayed the real meaning and enthusiasm of education. Each student was biased on the basis of his skill in different fields. The inborn talents of each student was encouraged and digged out of him by the gurus. There was no weak student then, as each student excelled in one field or the other. THIS IS EDUCATION. Harnessing the strengths and weaknesses of each student and making him supreme in what he is good at.

But education has evolved in the past few centuries and has finally reached the present system. But the sad part is, along with education, its meaning also evolved in the meantime. It has changed from LEARNING and UNDERSTANDING to MARKS and COMPETETION. Competetion among parents, comepetion among teachers, competition among institutions, and children are mercilessly pressurized in the maelstrom.

The most somber part is that students are biased from just one criteria ie marks. Children are treated by parents and teachers as mark making machines, where, if you oil them more frequently, they produce better results. Hence for better marks, children are given extra teaching like tuitions, coaching camps etc. Children are made so busy that they just don’t find time to brush up their talents.

Another problem with the system is the heavy syllabus. The syllabus is so large that it cannot be fed to a student properly in one year. Teachers race through topics, and students mug it up not understanding the concepts clearly. Education means learning but nothing of that sort id taking place in the present pattern. The students who score top marks, as I’ve observed spend most of their time in front of books (there are minor exceptions though). This may damage their brain, health and socializing skills. In short, the system is shaping up a generation of MENTALLY RETARDED ACADEMIC GENIOUSES.

We often read students committing suicides, kids running away from home, teenagers being too much aggressive etc. in the newspaper. We have also witnessed the rise of use of abusive language among even small children. I’d say the system has played a major role in this. Too much pressure often take children away from parents and in turn take them to wrong routes.
Once I happened to hear an education officer speaking to students in a symposium that the pressure on students is not because of parents or teachers but because of the system and that they have to get used to it. If the fucking officer knew the system is creating loads of pressure to students, then why the hell is he asking to get used to it? Why not change it?

Parents do not find time to have a friendly chat with their ward as they are busy preparing study time tables and giving career advice. Education does not mean making formulas by heart alone, but it is the understanding of living in this tough world. Unfortunately schools don’t teach that sort of things, so you need to do it yourself.
All The Best.
